Gigs in 2023


Sunday 10 December 2023  - Brunswick Pub, Hove

Starts 7.30pm, finishes 10.00pm

The band will be performing a Christmas Concert of swing jazz tunes and Christmas tunes with singers Ruth Fahie and Dave Williams joining the band to sing a selection of songs from the Great American Songbook and some classic Christmas songs.

Admission is free of charge with a collection made for the band during the evening.

Sunday 26 November 2023 - The Barn Theatre, Southwick Community Centre

The day includes a Christmas Fayre with handmade treats and gifts, cakes, sweets, charity stalls and an invitation to explore the Centre to see what is on offer all year round. The Big Band will play in the Barn Theatre for an hour from 14.00 to 15.00  with the band playing a selection of classic swing and Christmas tunes joined by our fantastic singer Ruth Fahie.

Other music acts will play and mulled wine and mince pies will be available!

Wed 22 November 2023 - The Barn Theatre, Southwick Community Centre

Last opportunity in 2023 to see the BBB in open rehearsal absolutely free of charge. See under the flesh - the skeleton of what keeps the body of a big band together - the bones, the horns, the wind and the beating heart of the rhythm section.
The band will be in casual attire and our MD John Woodward will guide you through the work of the evening so you know what's going on.
A licensed bar will be available and open all evening. See less

Sunday 27 August 2023 - Pavilion Gardens, Brighton

Starts 2.00pm, finishes 4.15pm.
A free open air music concert of classic big band swing, latin tunes and well known TV themes - what's not to like!  On top of all that, the band will be joined by the fabulous vocalists Ruth Fahie and Dave Williams, singing the tunes made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Frank Sinatra.
 
A collection will be made for the band - do come along and support the band.....

Sunday 13 August 2023  - Brunswick Pub, Hove

Starts 7.30pm, finishes 10.00pm
The band will be performing a range of material including the much loved swing classics of Miller and Basie plus a range of new material by Gordon Goodwin and local composer Paul Busby. Singers Ruth Fahie and Dave Williams will join the band to sing a selection of songs from the Great American Songbook.

Entrance is free with a retiring collection for the band.

Sunday 23 July 2023 - Eastbourne Bandstand

Starts 3.00pm finishes 4.30pm.
Back at the Bandstand with a new selection of classic swing tunes, latin toe-tappers and famous TV themes. The band will be joined by singers Dave Williams and Ruth Fahie singing the songbooks of Sinatra, Fitzgerald and more...

The band will play a selection of the great swing tunes from the hands of Glen Miller, Duke Ellington and Count Basie et al. Dave Brown-Jackman will be singing the music of Sinatra, Darin and Buble.

Wed 24 May 2023 - The Barn Theatre, Southwick Community Centre



The band will be performing in open rehearsal for all at the beginning of new relationship with the Southwick Community Centre as their rehearsal base. We are so excited about this new prospect that we want you to come and share with our first open rehearsal in the superb Barn Theatre - with FREE entry.

The band will be rehearsing a range of their material, some new to the band, some old favourites but please expect time out for rehearsal notes between numbers and stoppages will try to be kept to a mininum. It will be a great opportunity to see a big band in rehearsal and get to know the band members during the break at the pay bar which will open prior to the rehearsal.

An evening of classic big band tunes, latin and TV themes 
with vocals supplied by Ruth Fahie. 

The gig is a charity event to raise funds for Worthing Hospital.

Parc Swings & Hog Roast.....The band will be playing some lively dance tunes and songs performed by our Sinatra style singer Dave Williams and the superb Ruth Fahie. Tickets £25 available in advance ONLY (No tickets on the door) from Sally or Cathy at PARCSWINGS@GMAIL.COM and includes Hog Roast or a vegetarian alternative. A cash bar will be available for refreshments.

Our annual gig at these wonderful gardens in the centre of the city. Expect great swing tunes to dance and listen to the vocals of Dave Williams to grace your ears with the sounds of Sinatra et al.

After over 18 months of no gigs, the band is about to break that silence with four fantastic  summer gigs. All the gigs are outside and social distancing will be encouraged even in these more liberal Covid 19 conditions.

Brighton Big Band featuring the Music of Oliver Nelson with Robin Blakeman on Alto Sax

The band will be joined by locally born but internationally performed, Robin Blakeman, playing a selection of Oliver Nelson tunes from albums such as Jazzhattan Suite and Black Brown and Beautiful as well as the standard Stolen Moments which featured on Blues and the Abstract Truth.

The band will also feature the talented vocalist, Dave Williams who will be singing the music of Sinatra with his usual style and swank.


With a set list of instrumental numbers including Watermelon Man and Got To Get You Into My Life plus some big band swing standards that everyone will recognise, this promises to be a "go to" evening which will please all big band fans and more. Admission is free with a retiring collection. Concert finishes at 22.30.
